Social Skills

Social skills and interaction with peers is one of the most significant problems for people on the autism spectrum. This difficulty is made more significant by speech and language issues. The resources in this section focus on understanding emotions, appropriate school behavior and peer play.

Video modeling, flashcards, picture books and academic books allow the instructor or parent to teach in a method preferred by the child or individual. Without appropriate training, even the highest-functioning person on the autism spectrum can make social blunders that cause all kinds of problems. Social skills are an important part of any intervention program and develop children's confidence and independence skills.
