Seating is important in linking a childs postural control with functional movements of the upper extremities. Children with CP have a particularly difficult time maintaining their balance in sitting if they are required to use their hands for skilled manipulation. The KAYE Kinder Chairs provide many options to gain the 13 best alignment and postural control possible, so that the child can focus on developing and coordinating arm and hand skills.

Clinical experts recommend a firm back and appropriate seat depth to align the pelvis and femurs. The KAYE Kinder Chairs have an adjustable seat depth that assures that the childs thighs are well supported to prevent undue internal rotation stress on the femoral heads. The firm back and adjustable seat depth helps maintain the pelvis in the vertical position with thoracic extension.

The adjustable footrest supports the feet when the chair is in its higher settings such as when it is adjusted to fit under a standard table. This footrest is removable to allow taller children to rest their feet on the floor when the chair is in the lower settings.

The addition of the abductor pad at the distal third of the thighs maintains the alignment of the hips and knees and inhibits adduction and internal rotation. This combined with the seat belt across the pelvis, decreases the tendency for the child to either push or slide out of the chair. Additional pelvic stability and femoral alignment can be obtained by adding the optional pelvicfemoral stabilizer.

The KAYE Kinder Chair is for children up to 48" tall. It is designed to fit under preschool tables between 17" and 25" tall. The stability of this chair makes it easy for young children to learn to transfer in and out of this chair safely. It is available with casters to make it easier to move about without disturbing the symmetrical positioning.

The seat is firm, padded, vinyl covered foam on a wood back and seat surface. The seat width is 11", and the seat depth adjusts from 7" to 12". The angle of back-to-seat can be reclined 10 degrees from vertical. The arm rest height is 5" from the seat, and the height of the top edge of the back is 13" from the seat. The footrest adjusts from 3" to 10.5" from the seat surface.

The Kinder Chair leg length adjusts from 15" to 22" from the floor to the top of the arm rest. The Tray is included. Tray dimensions: Cut-out for chest is 11" wide; Tray is 20" front to back; Tray is 25" wide; Tray work surface depth from front edge to the apex of the cut-out is 12"; distance from front of cut-out to back cushion is adjustable from 5" to 10" in 1" increments.

The Large Kinder Chair is designed as an adjustable seat that can be used to help ensure the user is positioned properly while sitting.
