The Seat Belt Buckle Guard is a seat belt lock designed to prevent children with emotional and cognitive disabilities from releasing the seat belt while the car is in motion.

    Description

    Details

Designed specifically to work with seat belts with an upright configuration and a red push-button release, this slotted cover fits over the button and belt receiver slot. The seat belt is inserted into the side slot of the Seat Belt Buckle Guard over the seat belt receptacle and locked in as it normally would be.

The Seat Belt Buckle Guard prevents the release button from being pressed. To unlock the seat belt, insert the end of another belt, a key, a nail file, or a similar item in the center slot and depress the red release button.

This is an effective solution for children with autism who unbuckle their seat belt while the car is in motion.

    Seat Belt Buckle Guard Features:
    • Prevents children from unbuckling seat belt while in car
    • Works on most cars, SUVs and mini-vans (known not to work on Honda Odyssey, Toyota Rav4 or the Subaru Forester). Please refer to the images above and the dimensions found in the specifications tab)
    • Simple, yet effective design keeps the most curious child from unbuckling
    • Simple for parent or guardian to release by using a car key
    • Most effective buckle guard model on the market

To perform modifications to fit your vehicle:

    Option 1

    1. (A) To thin the profile of the bar, file or sand the top of the bars. This should allow the seat belt to connect to the connector.
    2. (B) To help with the tongues that have a wider profile, use a file to remove the edges of the plastic.
    3. Note: Any modifications void any returns
      How to Perform Modifications

    Option 2

    1. Remove the plastic strip that is closest to the inner seat belt.
    2. Note: Any modifications void any returns

    Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a way to modify the Seat Belt Buckle Guard if it doesn't work with my vehicle?
Yes, the Seat Belt Buckle Guard can be modified [opening made larger] by carefully paring away some of the plastic on the two outer bars. Be careful not to cut away from the two inner bars as this may weaken it. This has been done successfully by those customers for whom the collar of the male portion is too large to allow it to be fully inserted through the Seat Belt Buckle Guard and into the lock button.

    The Answer!
Wonderful ! This was the Answer to my Alzheimers parent. Review by Pennsylvania fan / (Posted on 6/23/2016)
This buckle guard is AWESOME!! We have tried other products and my son has managed to get them off as quick as we can put them on, but this buckle guard keeps him buckled up and safely in his car seat!!! Thank you to whoever created this one! Review by Karen S / (Posted on 8/26/2013)
This little gem has prevented my nephew with autism from getting out of his seat belt. He now tells us, "Please help me get out, I am stuck." It is easy to use and works excellent. Can open it with the Popsicle sticks it comes with or with a key. Only one drawback. If there was an emergency like in a car accident he would not be able to get out of the car quickly -- if he needed to. I am thinking about getting one of those labels for his car door that indicates an autistic child on board and also getting a tool to cut the car seat belt. Review by Kelly / (Posted on 8/26/2013)
We have tried everything to keep our 7yr old special needs daughter buckled in her seat. As soon as we got going, I would hear the buckle release and she would be up and around in the back. It was horrifying. Well, she can not get out of the Buckle Guard! Thank you so much for this product. It's just what we needed. Review by Barbara C / (Posted on 8/26/2013)
We use this to restrain a family member with Alzheimer's disease who kept unbuckling. The device is easy to use and very effective. Review by Gayle / (Posted on 8/26/2013)
My three year old son thinks it highly amusing to free himself from his seat belt while I am driving. The look on his face this morning when he tried, but could not release the seat belt buckle, was priceless. This is a relatively cheap, very effective fix for a huge problem! Review by Lynda / (Posted on 8/26/2013)
I love this product. My 7 year old so. Would not keep his seat belt fastened at all, so for almost 2 Nice this has been a godsend. Unfortunately within two months he was able to break one of the plastic dividers rendering the product useless. I wish for $23 including shipping that the product had been made of a more durable material. Because now we don't have it to use and I can't justify spending another $23 on something that he will break again within a couple months. Review by Jennifer / (Posted on 8/26/2013)
It worked great for the first three months. Then my son, 12 yo but cognitively around 5 yo, figured out that if he pulled up hard enough on the bottom edge, he could slip his finger under and push the button to get out! He did this in both my hubby's car and my van. The unit needs to be a bit longer to keep him from being able to do this. If it was an inch or two longer-covering more of where you plug the seat belt in, he wouldn't be able to do this. Review by Jenny F / (Posted on 8/26/2013)
It works! Driving with my daughter had become impossible - I never knew when she was going to unbuckle and start jumping around in the back seat. Thanks to this device - I don't have to worry anymore ! Simple - yet effective. Review by AmyK / (Posted on 8/26/2013)
It's the best! Whoever invented this is my hero! It's the ONLY thing my daughter cannot get out of! YIPPEE! Review by Kathy O / (Posted on 8/26/2013)
