The Basic Skills Board by Melissa and Doug features six activities that help children develop fine motor and manipulative skills. The board features 6 beautifully-illustrated color puzzle pieces, each of which features a basic skill or exercise. Young children will have a ball developing basic skills for daily living with our beautifully illustrated board. Each of the six durable activities is portable, allowing multiple children to practice shoe lacing, buckling, snapping and more! Dress the adorable bear puzzle, and learn to zip, buckle, lace, button, and snap! For ages 3 years and above.

Children learn to tie shoes, zip coats, fasten shirt buttons, snap jeans, use a belt, and fasten a backpack latch.

Underneath each puzzle piece is a second surprise picture relating to the first. For instance, there's a sock under the shoe, a sweater under the coat, and food "inside" the backpack! Because the puzzle pieces are completely removable, the toy can be used by multiple children at once, making it a great addition to preschool, daycare, and Montessori classrooms.

Educational Value: This creative toy is perfect for helping kids develop manual dexterity and learning the basics of dressing themselves.

This is a beautiful educational toy. Teaches kids snaps, buckles, zippers and ties. After they remove the clothes the bear is in his underwear. All in all it is really cute and the kids really enjoy playing with it. Review by R. Garcia / (Posted on 8/26/2013)
This is a nice alternative to the dress-up stuffed animals out there; however, my 3-year-old doesn't usually choose to play with it. He will oblige, though, if I initiate involvement. Review by Carrie Johnson / (Posted on 8/26/2013)
I found this at my local toy store and i immediately knew my kids had to have it. Though the product says for 3 and up this can be played with by children as young as 18M. The product has a bear stretching his arms out and on each arm are various basic skills your child can practice, all in one spot! There's a learning to lace and tie (like tying a shoe), learning how to button, use a snap (like on pants), then learning to use those snaps like on a fanny pack or backpack, zip up a shirt, and use a belt. I think this toy is adorable and can really teach kids in a fun way the basic skills they need to know. Review by J. Evans / (Posted on 8/26/2013)
