Geared towards a first grade level, this workbook begins with a quick review of all capital letters, which are taught in gray blocks to reinforce consistent size and to avoid reversals. The workbook then moves on to lower case letters which are presented alongside their capital-sized match. Once children have learned and reviewed 6 lowercase letters (c o s v w t), they can begin to use twin words pages which are presented on opposite each letter teaching page. Children learn a new letter and immediately begin to use it to write words. There are letter review and sentence practice pages throughout the book. There are also number pages at the end.
MY PRINTING BOOK is for first graders or children at that level. CAPITAL LETTERS and numbers should be taught/reviewed before beginning the book. The emphasis is on printing lower case letters. This workbook includes step by step letter instructions on the left-hand page, with illustrations large enough for the child to finger trace. The teacher will teach/demonstrate each new letter, and check to be sure the child can print it correctly. The child practices on the right-hand page. The new letter is used in words, with letters the child already knows. This provides a nice balance of new and review work.
