Children with special needs, such as cerebral palsy, autism, or spinal cord problems require adaptive car seats or seat restraints for continued safety in cars or buses. Finding the right car seat for a special needs child can be a challenge with certain medical conditions or behavior problems that lead a child to repeatedly unbuckle a car seat's harness straps.
All of our car seats comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards that require all special needs car seats meet FMVSS 213 for Child Restraint Systems. Make sure that the special needs car seat is LATCH compliant for children up to 48 pounds, and includes a EZ-Tether connector strap, tether and LATCH assemblies. LATCH has been available in most passenger vehicles since model year 2003. Tether anchors have been available since model year 2000. Check the owner’s manual for your vehicle for more information.
